About Janiuay

Janiuay is a first-class municipality in the province of Iloilo, Western Visayas, within the 3rd congressional district. It covers 179.10 square kilometres across 60 barangays and recorded a population of 67,509 in the 2024 Census of Population.

The town traces its beginnings to a settlement established along the Suage River in 1578, and was created as a municipality in 1769. The Spanish-era church of St. Julian of Cuenca still stands on the hill facing the municipal square, the Janiuay Cemetery is a national historical landmark, and the sitio of Calvario is associated with the first Protestant community in the country.

Farming remains the main source of livelihood — rice, corn, sugar, copra, coffee, banana and abaca fibre, together with poultry, gamefowl, goat and cattle raising. The town centre hosts the public market and national retail chains, and Janiuay is home to a campus of West Visayas State University.

About this platform

Janiuay ONE is a local government digital services platform. It gives residents one place to find service guidance, submit concerns, follow the progress of a request, and read official announcements — while giving municipal offices the tools to receive, assign and respond to those requests.

The platform is built as a multi-tenant service: each government that uses it has its own departments, users, records and configuration. The Municipality of Janiuay is the first tenant configured in this demonstration environment.
